Alleged image of the AT&T branded Motorola "Dinara" leaks

Right when we began to wonder why is Motorola being so quiet on the US front these days, a juicy rumor regarding an upcoming smartphone from Google's newly acquired property sprung up. An AT&T branded Motorola, codenamed "Dinara" has leaked out in an alleged image.

The upcoming smartphone is rumored to offer 4.5" HD display and Motoblur-ed Android Ice Cream Sandwich, to go with its LTE connectivity. The rest of the specs are likely to be similar to the Motorola XT928, which is sold on the Chinese Market.

As the image mildly suggests, a late July launch is possible. Don't be surprised if you see the handset carry the Atrix 3 moniker when it goes official.

Motorola Droid RAZR HD for Verizon leaks out in blurry shots

It looks like the Motorola "Dinara" which we told you about a few hours ago won't be the only star in Motorola's lineup this summer. The LTE flavored Motorola Droid RAZR HD for Verizon Wireless has emerged in a couple of shots. When it hits the shelves in the coming months, the Android smartphone is bound to be one of the best heeled devices on the US market.

The rumored specs of the smartphone include a Snapdragon S4 chipset with two 1.5GHz CPU cores, 13MP camera, HD screen, which will include Android navigation buttons, and, very importantly, a 3300mAh battery like the one found in our reigning battery test champion - the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX. Also, as you can see in the photos above, the back of the device has gone for the full kevlar treatment - there will be no plastic rim around it. The HDMI and microUSB ports will be located on the bottom side of the handset.

There is no firm info on the release date of this beast. A late summer timeframe however, is floating around. Naturally, we'll keep you posted.

Motorola unveils dual-core XT760 for China

Motorola introduced yet another Android smartphone for the Chinese market. Called Motorola XT760, the new droid is built around a 4" qHD screen and a 1GHz dual-core CPU of unknown architecture.

The mid-range Motorola XT760 comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support and dual-band 3G with HSPA. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has a camera on either side of its chassis. The main snapper at the back can capture 8 MP stills and 1080p video, while the front-facing shooter is limited to VGA resolution.

The Motorola XT760 comes with 768MB of RAM and 2GB of built-in storage with microSD card slot for expanding that by up to 32GB. Local connectivity is well covered with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0 HS, a 3.5mm audio jack and an HDMI port.

Motorola XT760 is available from authorized Motorola resellers across China starting today, but its pricing hasn't been confirmed by the official Motorola press release. There's also nothing on the potential release of the smartphone in other markets.

Lamborghini to launch luxury phones and tablet in Russia

Lamborghini has announced their new range of luxury phones and tablet for the Russian market.

The first of the bunch (above) is a simple feature phone called the TL688 Spyder that has a 2-inch QVGA display, 3 megapixel camera with video recording, front facing camera, 4GB internal memory and GPRS/EDGE connectivity. Being a luxury phone, however, it has a hand-made leather body and a leather back. It also has a rather unique shape that looks more like a TV remote than a regular phone.

The second one (above) is also a feature phone called TL820 Spyder 2. This one has a 2.4-inch VGA resolution display, 5 megapixel rear camera and VGA front facing camera, 1GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 16GB and a 1,200mAh battery. The design of this phone is similar to its younger brother and also gets the same gold and leather treatment.

The third phone - the TL700 - (pictured above) is actually an Android smartphone but unfortunately runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It runs on an unknown Qualcomm processor and has a 3.7-inch 800 x 480 resolution display. There is a 5 megapixel camera on the back and VGA on the front, 4GB internal memory and a 1,400mAh battery. The phone has a gold plated body, sapphire glass coating for the display and crocodile skin back.

The last device, the L2800, is an Android tablet. It has a 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 resolution display (same as the iPad 2), 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal memory (expandable). Sadly, it also runs on Android 2.3 but it will be updated to Android 4.0 in future.

Now comes the price. The base TL688 Spyder will set you back by around 60,000 - 70,000 Russian ruble ($1,829 - $2,134). The TL820 Spyder 2 will cost 80,000 ruble ($2,438), the TL700 around 90,000 ruble ($2743) and the L2800 around 75,000 ruble ($2,286).

No release dates are available at the moment. To check out a lot more pictures hit the source link below.

A quad-core LTE-enabled Galaxy S III with 2GB RAM to hit Korea

After the Galaxy S III was announced, a lot of people were displeased that it fails to provide a RAM upgrade over the S II. You see 1GB of RAM is more than enough for just about every use case, but more is always better when talking memory.

Later Samsung announced the US Samsung Galaxy S III version, which does pack 2 gigs of RAM, but drops the quad-core CPU. Now though, we learn of a new S III edition, which combines the best of both world.

The model number of the new Samsung Galaxy S III units will be SHV-E210S, but sadly it's only going to be available in Korea. We suspect that this version is an insurance against the LG Optimus LTE2. LG was keen to brag about its new smartphone the day after the Galaxy S III announcement, focusing marketing attention on its 2GB of RAM. The Optimus LTE2 is also a Korea-only device.

The rest of the specs of the SHV-E210S Galaxy S III are identical to the international model a quad-core Exynos 4412 chipset (with additional third-party LTE chip), a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD screen, an 8MP snapper and 32GB of internal storage (there is no 16GB version this time). The phone is 0.4mm thicker than the 3G-only version.

The Galaxy S III LTE will launch in Korea this July, but its price tag is yet unconfirmed. We guess it wont go global though.

Nokia Lumia 900 for AT&T updated, bugs get fixed

The new update concerns only users owning the Nokia Lumia 900 from AT&T in the States. The model has been available there since March of this year and reportedly, has been selling really well. The success has been attributed to the amazing hardware and build quality, the sleek software and nonetheless, the low price and yet, wide advertising campaign.

The newly released update is available through the Zune software. The changelog is not really detailed but this seems like a bug-fixing release.

The official source mentions this:

' Removes purple hue which affected the screen of some devices in low light conditions

' Improved sensitivity for the proximity sensor

' Other minor adjustments and enhancements

There is no word about the connectivity issues some users have been having.

In case you are interested in the device, you are welcome to our detailed review.

HTC announces ICS-based dual-SIM Desire V and Desire VC

HTC has just announced its first dual-SIM phone the Desire V alongside a dedicated dual-mode version for China called Desire VC.

The Desire V and Desire VC have identical specifications but for the network support the Desire V supports tri-band GSM on its secondary slot and quad-band GSM/EDGE + dual-band HSPA on the primary SIM-1 slot. The Desire VC on the other hand is a CDMA/EVDO phone with a SIM card slot for tri-band GSM support.

The new Desire duo packs 4-inch WVGA displays and is based on Qualcomm MSM7227A chipsets, featuring a 1GHz Cortex-A5 processor, Adreno 200 graphics and 512MB RAM. The rest of the specs sheet includes a 5 MP snapper with LED flash and VGA recording, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, FM radio, 4GB storage and a microSD expansion slot.

HTC Desire V/VC is running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich skinned with HTC Sense 4.0 UI. Beats Audio enhancements are also included.

HTC Desire V will launch in Asia in early July and will probably premiere worldwide soon after. We guess the Desire VC will hit China around the same time. The price should be about $345 (275) for the Desire V and $318 (253) for the Desire VC.

A supposed leaked back panel sheds more light on the iPhone 5

We've already seen a similar back panel leak. Unfortunately that doesn't make these parts any more authentic. However, if we assume these are the real deal, this leak brings a few new facts to the table:

  • The 3.5mm audio jack will be moved to the bottom of the device.
  • The new panel is a unibody unit and includes both the back panel and the middle plate, which houses all the electronics components.
  • The SIM tray on the new iPhone will actually be smaller, so Apple might be moving to a new SIM standard.

iPhone 5 has the audio jack at the bottom and a more compact connectivity port

Furthermore, this new leak provides some hard evidence to backup previous rumors as well:

  • The new iPhone will have a bigger screen but it's only taller than the current one, not wider.
  • The new iPhone will have a smaller proprietary connector.
  • The back piece is made out of metal, but there are patches of glass top and bottom.
  • The new iPhone will be slimmer than the current 4S model.

The iPhone 5 will be slimmer than the 4S

But enough talking here's the video that shows all of these:

AT&T Galaxy S III pre-orders start, shipping June 18

As promised AT&T is already taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S III. It will cost you $200 with a 2-year contract, while the no commitment price is $550.

Both the Pebble Blue and the Marble White colors of the Galaxy S III are available on pre-order, which means that the AT&T-bound batch wasn't affected by the production hiccups.

The Galaxy S III on AT&T is LTE-enabled so it will be based on a Snapdragon S4 dual-core chipset and will pack 2GB RAM, instead of the quad-core Exynos ticking in the international version (which lacks LTE support).

AT&T has confirmed that the new Samsung flagship will begin shipping on June 18. This means the US largest GSM carrier will have a three day advantage over rivals Sprint and T-Mobile, which will start fulfilling pre-orders on June 21.

Verizon and US Cellular, which are the other two operators to offer the Samsung Galaxy S III in the US are yet to announce details on the actual availability of the smartphone on their networks.

Nokia introduces the Asha Touch range with three new handsets

Nokia announced the first three members of the newly created Asha Touch family of handsets. The Nokia Asha 305, Asha 306, and Asha 311 bring the range of feature phones even closer to smartphone territory, while still maintaining seriously low price tags.

As Nokia's naming convention suggests, the Asha 311 will sit on top of the newly formed range of devices. The feature phone sports a CPU clocked at 1GHz and 256MB of internal memory, which can be further expanded through a microSD card slot. A 3.2MP camera can be found on the back of the device. The screen is a 3.0 capacitive touch unit with WQVGA resolution. Connectivity is fully covered with Bluetooth 2.1, pentaband WCDMA, microUSB port, and a 3,5mm audio jack. Accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor complete the spec sheet, and make it worthy for any budget minded smartphone. Its measures are 106 mm x 52 mm x 12.9 mm, while its weight is 95 grams. A 1110mAh battery powers the handset.

Nokia Asha 311

On the software side, the Asha 311 will offer 40 free EA games, preloaded Angry Birds, as well as the cloud accelerated Nokia Browser.

Next, we have the dual-SIM Nokia Asha 305. The handset will offer a 3" resistive touch screen with WQVGA resolution. A 2MP camera, microSD card slot and dual-band GSM/EDGE connectivity are part of the specs too. Just like in the case of its bigger brother, the Asha 305 sports Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB 2.0 connector, 3.5 mm audio jack, and accelerometer. The handset's measures are 110.3 mm x 53.8 mm x 12.8 mm, while its weight is 98.3 grams. It is powered by the same 1110mAh battery as the Asha 311.

Nokia Asha 305

The Nokia Asha 305 will also offer 40 free EA games and Nokia Browser. Nokia Maps will be available in select markets.

As its name suggests, the Nokia Asha 306 is rather closely related to the 305. In addition to its specs, the 306 offers WLAN, as well as video streaming over both GPRS and WLAN.

Nokia Asha 306

Nokia Asha 305 will begin shipping in Q2 with a price tag in the 63 range. Nokia Asha 306 and 311 will follow in Q3, priced at 68, and 92 respectively.

7.9mm iPhone 5 to come with 4.1

A familiar rumor is back - the new confirmation coming from KGI analyst Mingchi Kuo, who is said to have sources close to Apple's supply chain.

The next incarnation of the Apple iPhone could turn up with a 4.08-inch display of 1136 x 640 resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio and a brightness of 500 nits (matching the iPhone 4S). This, despite not technically being HD worthy, would result in a density of good 319 pixels per inch, preserving the Retina moniker, and moving away from the familiar 3:2 aspect.

Mingchi Kuo also has info on the cameras and thickness of the iPhone 5, saying that the front-facing camera will be HD-capable, making those FaceTime calls all the sweeter, and that the camera will be moved from the left side of the earpiece to the center (much like on the iPod Touch).

The back camera will reportedly have 8 MP sensor and a 5 element lens similar to the 4S but with a larger aperture of f/2.2 (currently f/2.4). That would allow more light to reach the sensor and improve the low-light performance.

As for the profile, Kuo claims that the next iPhone will measure the impressively thin 7.9 mm, which is a huge improvement over the iPhone 4S's 9.3 mm.

The bigger display bit is probably the most persistent of all iPhone 5 rumors, only this time the said screen size isn't 3.9" but 4.08". However, altering the screen aspect ratio might lead to poor backwards compatibility with apps, which have been developed for the 3:2 aspect ratio of all iPhones to date.

Still the width of the screen, if this rumor turns out true, will remain 640 pixels, which is the same as the current iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, meaning apps could run just fine with blank bars on each side until their developers get round to adapting them.

The next iPhone, or iPhone 5, is rumored to arrive in the fall, in either September, or as was the case last time, October. As always there are a bunch of rumors surrounding it, one pointing at an aluminium back and larger screen. We're less than a week away from finding out what this year's WWDC conference in San Francisco and iOS 6 will bring. There might be some clues for the specs of the upcoming iPhone 5.

Curiously colored Samsung Galaxy S III pops up on YouTube

The Samsung Galaxy S III is already making its way to its new owners in Europe, so, naturally, the hands-on videos started flooding YouTube. One particular clip, coming from a user in Germany however, has managed to raise a few eyebrows, as it shows the ber smartphone in a color scheme, which looks like anything but pebble blue. Instead, the handset appears to sport an color scheme, which sits somewhere between gunmetal gray and chromed piano black.

As you might have guessed by now, there is a possibility that the color effect is has occurred due to the lighting in the video. However, given the delay of the Pebble Blue version on the old continent, which we told you about, we believe this particular case is worth a closer look.

Here is the video in question.

As always, we will update you as soon as we find out more about this one. In the meantime, feel free to tell us what you make of it in the comments section.

Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon keeps its design intact

Verizon is one of the five carriers to start offering the Samsung Galaxy S III this month and leaked pictures show that the device will virtually be an untouched version of its international GSM sibling.

Android Central got their hands on some photos of the Galaxy S III for the Big Red, which, excluding the 4G Verizon logo on the back, is the same as the GSM model of the device. The only difference is it runs on a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset with 2GB of RAM.

Samsung have decided not to alter the Galaxy S III as much as they did with the Galaxy S II lineup last year and launch the device with the same outfit as everywhere else. This seems to be the case with the US-bound T-Mobile version and the one sold by AT&T, as well.

Speaking of launch, it's yet unclear when Verizon is going to put the Galaxy S III on the shelves, but it will surely be sometime this month.

iOS6 to offer Facebook integration and a revamped AppStore?

Apple's WWDC is one of the industry's major events because in the past few years it has been the stage for some serious software announcements by the company. The event will probably offer a lot to developers too but from our user's point of view, we are dying to hear what Apple's been cooking this past year in terms of mobile software. A iOS 6 announcement is expected and the rumor mill is hard at work to catch some of the tasty morsels that we'll be offered come June 11.

A serious rumor making the rounds recently includes the unveiling of a new Apple HDTV - a smart, connected TV running iOS much like the similarly named Apple TV. But that aside, the mobile iOS will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the event in San Francisco.

Some of the rumored new features it's supposed to bring over, are proper Facebook integration, a redesign of the AppStore, iTunes Store and iBookstore, and even a new AirDrop file sharing trickery, courtesy of Wi-Fi Direct, which should be present in the next iPhone. Other recent rumors include new Maps and Photos apps plus an improved camera interface.

Facebook integration was a noticeable absentee last year and had our share of comments in the debate about this fact. Recent reports have it that Facebook will be included in the latest release of iOS. The integration would include a system-wide sign-in that would allow iOS users to share content from any apps on Facebook without further identification.

The other rumored changes include redesigned AppStore, iTunes store and iBookstore. The extent of the redesign is not known but it's supposed to improve interactivity, and we are only to guess whether Apple has managed to implement the improved app discoverability, courtesy of the recently acquired Chomp.

The other supposed upgrades rumored earlier include an upgraded Photos app, which will include an option to share a photo directly from the iCloud. The Camera app is supposed to include features popular on third-party cam apps - such as filters and effects. And finally, the Maps application on iOS is reportedly getting a new, mega-cool 3D view mode.

The WWDC keynote address is due for Monday, 6 p.m. London time, but we guess we'll be hearing a lot more about the upcoming iOS before that.

Samsung Galaxy S III to launch on five US carriers this June

Samsung has announced that it will be launching the highly anticipated Galaxy S III smartphone in US on not two or three but five major carriers. The phones will go on sale beginning this June and will have a starting price of $199, although the exact launch date and price will be announced separately by the individual carriers later.

The phone in question has the dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor with 2GB of RAM, instead of the quad-core Exynos 4 Quad and 1GB RAM on the international model. The reason for this switch is to include support for the US LTE bands.

Samsung mentions that the phone will have customized services depending upon the carrier but there is no information regarding whether this will only be limited to network plans or will extend to software and hardware customizations. It does seem though this time, unlike with the Galaxy S II that had various hardware configurations across the carriers, the Galaxy S III will remain the same.

As mentioned before, no exact launch dates or pricing has been mentioned but you can look forward to individual announcements from your favorite carriers detailing these things shortly.

T-Mobile branded Samsung Galaxy S III press photo leaks

An alleged press photo for Samsung Galaxy S III for T-Mobile has leaked out, thus revealing the design of one of the carrier versions of the US bound smartphone. Perhaps the biggest surprise about the handset's appearance is that it is, well, identical to the international I9300. The same goes for its color scheme.

It looks like we might see the end of carrier versions looking differently than the globally available model. We will find out if this is the case when Samsung officially unveils the US availability of the Galaxy S III. We suspect that the wait won't be long.

Android 4.0 expands to 7.1 percent of total Android user base

Google has updated the Android distribution figures on its developer website, which brings with it some good news. The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich user base has grown to 7.1 percent, up from the 2.9 percent back on April and the 1 percent in January.

The sharp growth is likely due to the launch of new Android 4.0 devices such as the HTC One series phones, as well as several high-end devices receiving the Android 4.0 update. With even more Android 4.0 devices on their way and more updates planned for current devices, this number will continue to rise.

Having said that, it is still abysmally small compared to the user base of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which runs on a staggering 65 percent of the Android devices out there. Even the two version old Android 2.2 Froyo is found on 19.1 percent of the total user base.

In some cases the OEMs and carriers are to blame for not launching new phones with Android 4.0 even after it was released and for not updating older phones on time. In others, the hardware of the phone is just not capable of running the latest update and this includes all the low-end Android phones, which account for a majority of the Android user base. So while the Android 4.0 user base continues to increase as the total Android user base widens, it doesn't seem like the Gingerbread share is going to shrink any time soon.
